335 SPRING NEWSLETTER 2024 Sixth Form The Sixth Form team have planned an exciting six days / five nights trip to San Francisco, on America’s West Coast, which will commence during the first week of the Easter holidays on Tuesday 8th April 2025. The trip is open to current Year 11 and Year 12 students and will officially open on School Gateway on Monday 25th March. San Francisco is one of America’s most beautiful and iconic cities. The city is home to the infamous Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, the twists and turns of Lombard Street, the ‘painted ladies’ of Alamo Square Park, the cafes of North Beach, a vibrant Chinatown, the lounging sea lions of Pier 39, and the green space of Golden Gate Park. The trip will present a unique enrichment and cultural opportunity for students, enabling them to complement their academic studies whilst also experiencing a new and exciting culture. Many are gathering an impressive portfolio of evidence together which will contribute enormously to their UCAS application and personal statement. Enrichment Pathways and Student Recognition More of our Year 12 students have secured valuable work experience opportunities on a Wednesday afternoon during our allocated enrichment slot at the Friendship Café. They are working alongside members of the community with dementia, and also at Bolton Hospice. These work placements have allowed our students to make a positive contribution to the wider community.
