428 SPRING NEWSLETTER 2024 Year Team News Wow! How quickly we have come to the end of our second half term. Year 7 students have adapted so well to secondary school life and have continued to engage brilliantly in the school community. We have seen students involved in ‘Legally Blonde’, school sports, ‘Rock and Pop Night’, Mission Week and form group assemblies to name just a few. One of the main themes for Year 7 this term was centred on responsibility. Now that students have settled in and adapted to the changes presented by the move to secondary school we want them to focus on how they can be a responsible student who can play their part in building a cohesive school community. This term started with an assembly on responsibility and this was further enhanced by the themes outlined through Mission Week. Mission Week was a wonderful opportunity for students to work together in teams and take up new opportunities. This culminated in a talk from John Pridmore who talked through his life and took the responsibility to turn his life around from a life of crime. Year 7 We also had the second Determination Festival take place this term. Mrs O’Grady took a group of students to Howe Bridge Leisure Centre to take part in team activities helping to build resilience in young people. Two year 7 boys teams took part in a round robin football competition at Canon Slade giving a great account of themselves against other local schools. Our Year 7 girls also joined together to form a Key Stage 3 team. Wonderful teamwork was evident across the year groups and it was great to see so many Year 7 girls being a part of this team. The Year Team would like to again congratulate the students who have been awarded Student of the Week this term. Congratulations to Olivia B, Noah B, Jacob C, Owen P, Daisy W, Eden-Rae B, Charlie D and Emily R. It is great to see your efforts recognised by staff around the school.
