Personal Development

At Thornleigh Salesian College, personal development is at the heart of our Salesian mission. We are committed to developing the whole person — academically, spiritually, socially and morally. Through our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and daily relationships, we help pupils grow in confidence, character and responsibility. Personal development at Thornleigh is carefully planned and rooted in our local context, ensuring pupils learn how to stay safe, build healthy relationships, contribute positively to society and prepare for their future. We want every young person to feel known, valued and supported so they can flourish and fulfil their potential.

PSHE

At Thornleigh Salesian College, PSHE is an important part of our “Curriculum for Life”.

Through PSHE, we help pupils grow in confidence, character and responsibility so they are well prepared for life in modern Britain.

What pupils learn:

  • How to build healthy, respectful relationships

  • How to stay safe online and offline

  • How to look after their physical and mental health

  • How to manage money and make informed choices

  • How to understand risks, including drugs, alcohol and extremism

  • How to prepare for future education, training and careers

Lessons are age-appropriate and are delivered through timetabled PSHE, assemblies, themed events and external speakers.

We encourage open discussion and respectful debate so pupils can develop their own views while understanding the law, equality and the importance of mutual respect.

If you would like to find out more about our PSHE curriculum, please contact the school.
