Celebrating SEND at Thornleigh Salesian College

At Thornleigh Salesian College, we believe in the potential of every student, regardless of their individual learning needs. Our commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment sets the foundation for each student's unique journey of growth and achievement. We understand that diversity enriches our community, and we celebrate the strengths that every individual brings to our school.

Our Inclusion team works tirelessly to ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We recognise that every child is different, and we tailor our approach to meet their specific needs. Our goal is not just to provide an education but to empower each student to reach their full potential and become independent adults.

We understand that the path of a student with SEND may have unique challenges, and we are here to guide and support you every step of the way. Together, we create an environment where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to explore their talents and abilities.

Thornleigh Salesian College is not just a school; it's a community rooted in faith.

We invite you to explore our programs, meet our dedicated team, and discover the countless opportunities we offer to help your child thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

SEND Policy Summary of Aims:

  • We are committed to making sure pupils with SEND have full access to a high-quality, broad and balanced curriculum, including public examinations, so they can grow, achieve and fulfil their God-given potential.

  • Wherever possible, pupils with SEND learn alongside their peers, supported with care and understanding, with extra pastoral and learning support when needed to meet their individual needs.

  • We aim to build confidence, nurture self-worth and help every pupil discover joy in learning.

  • We guide and support pupils in preparing for the future, helping them choose meaningful further education, training or careers that allow them to flourish.

  • SEND is a shared responsibility across our whole community. We work closely with leaders, staff, governors and parents to ensure every pupil is known, understood and supported.

  • We want every pupil with SEND to feel safe, valued and proud of their achievements, knowing they belong and are celebrated within our Salesian family.
