Thornleigh Celebrates VE Day!

Despite the challenges we face as a community, we came together last week to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

Students were provided with a wealth of activities that they could engage in to help them understand VE Day, and commemorate it in their own way. So many students provided fantastic pieces of work that allowed them to demonstrate their own creative flares. There were beautiful VE Day afternoon tea sets designed in Art, and hands of friendship designed by Spanish students. In Maths and Computing, students were working out codes based on the work of Alan Turing. There were so many superb designs of VE Day bunting from History students that we could’ve decorated the entire school. Lots of members of staff and students also got involved in making WW2 themed meals that were based on rations.

It was lovely to see so many of our community come together to celebrate VE Day, and this was topped off, with a gift from our school to you, with our beautiful VE Day video:
