Year 11 Leaver's Mass

Year 11 Leaver's Mass

Today we held our Year 11 Leaver’s Mass in the school chapel.

The mass gives us the opportunity to celebrate the 5 years the students have spent at Thornleigh and also to give out special awards.

The first award given is the most prestigious honors in our school’s sporting calendar - The Mugan Shield.

This award is presented annually to a student who has made an outstanding contribution to the sporting life of Thornleigh, and this year’s winner truly embodies everything the award stands for. This award went to Chirs J.

The second award is the Caritas Catholic Social Teacher Award. This award recognises a student who has outstanding commitment to supporting school charities and making a positive difference in the lives of others. Through their dedication and enthusiasm, this person has played a significant role in raising funds for charitable causes, demonstrating a genuine desire to help those in need. This award went to Lucy W.

The final award is the Slupski Award that was voted by staff here at Thornleigh. This special award is presented in memory of a former Thornleigh student who sadly passed away, Joseph Slupski. It serves as a tribute to his legacy and the qualities he embodied during his time at Thornleigh: kindness, resilience and a deep commitment to the school community.

The recipient of the Slupski Award is someone who truly embodies all of these qualities. Since joining Thornleigh, this student has not only excelled academically but has also embraced every opportunity that the school has offered, truly living out the values of a Salesian education. Their dedication to personal growth, as well as their service to others, is something we all admire. This award went to Alessandro O.

All at Thornleigh would like to congratulate these students of whom we are extremely proud. We also want to congratulate the rest of Year 11 - they have worked incredibly hard and are a fantastic year group.

We wish them all the very best for the future.
