Send My Friend to School Champions!
We are so delighted that two of our students have been chosen to become Send My Friend champions.
Alessandro and Iman took part in the residential training to become Send My Friend champions. Here is a little about their experience and what they are looking forward to change:
What is Send My Friend to School?
Send My Friend to School is a group of international development NGOs, teachers’ unions and charities. It brings together young people, politicians, teachers, civil society and the media in joint campaigning to demand quality education for all children across the globe. Send My friend to School is asking the UK Government to prepare, protect, invest and act so that every child can learn in times of emergency, acquiring a quality education. Currently there are 224 million children across the world who have no education due to an emergency. This can be things such as a conflict, pandemics or climate change.
Alessandro and Iman took part in the residential training to become champions. Here is a little about their experience and what they are looking forward to change:
Iman - Going to the training was an amazing experience and getting to meet so many people from all over the UK who share the same views on the right to global education was extremely refreshing.I personally believe that having an education can bring many opportunities into someone's life. It is also an opportunity to remove many barriers. In training we got to learn the variety of problems that are present in the world but also the many solutions that can be used to overcome these obstacles. In my eyes it's very simple: education is a human right therefore we ALL deserve it.
Alessandro - I loved the residential because it told us all the different perspectives on education. Also we did not just discuss the issues but the solutions. We learned how to make people aware so that we can fix the global problem. I am really looking forward to going to parliament to show the MPs the action we are taking for education. I believe education is really important as it is the first step to achieving a career and fulfilling your dreams. A small action can change big things, every action makes a change.
