Sixth Form Students through to Greater Manchester County Final!

Well done to our Sixth Form students!

At Thornleigh we encourage our Sixth Form students to respond to the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life and the world of work, and appreciate human aspirations, achievements and interdependence.
The Young Enterprise club continues to provide real-life learning opportunities. Our students have to set up and have been running their student company: Dare to Wear.
They identified a problem, “It has come to our attention as teenagers who are surrounded by many females who are insecure and feel uncomfortable about getting into fitness, that confidence and credibility was lacking in the female sporting industry” and decided to make a difference.
They have created a clothing brand with the purpose of making women feel comfortable in the gym or on the field; targeted at women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds to be as inclusive as possible to all women.
Madison T, Managing Director of Dare to Wear, wants their company to create an equal playing field for men and women and strive to incite more women to get involved in male dominated sports such as football, rugby and boxing.
In order to carry out their mission they will be:
- Emailing monthly fitness opportunities and events to our customers in order to encourage them to get involved in a variety of sports.
- Collaborating with established sports venues and clubs. This will help women feel comfortable in these environments and allow them to be more accessible in whatever sport they wish to do.

We are very proud to announce that the students have won a place in the Greater Manchester County Final for their business enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School on the 25th of April. They also won an award for the Best Presentation in the Area Competition.
