Year 11 Students Visit Shakespeare North Playhouse

Year 11 Bring Shakespeare to Life at Shakespeare North Playhouse

Our Year 11 students recently visited the Shakespeare North Playhouse for a captivating, candlelight performance of Macbeth. For a number of students, this was not only their first encounter with Shakespeare on stage, but their very first time experiencing live theatre altogether!

The atmospheric glow of the candlelight added a wonderfully eerie ambiance to the production. Students were thoroughly engaged throughout—and appropriately spooked when Banquo’s ghost made a surprise appearance right behind their seats at the top of the theatre.

A real highlight of the trip was seeing the students connect their classroom learning to the stage. As the actors delivered key lines, an excited (and fittingly creepy) whisper could be heard across the audience as our students finished core quotes right along with the cast, demonstrating their fantastic understanding of the text.

The conduct of all students was exemplary throughout the trip, and many shared that seeing the play live provided valuable context and confidence as they prepare for their upcoming PPEs.

A huge thank you to Mrs Donegan, Miss Rignall, Mrs Hitchen and Mr Pritchard for giving up their time to accompany our students and make this memorable trip possible.
