Winter Newsletter 2025

21 WINTER NEWSLETTER 2025 PHYSICALEDUCATION Finally, league fixtures kicked off in early November with the Year 7 and Year 8 / 9 team taking on Canon Slade. Although the results didn’t go our way, the teams showed real determination and resilience throughout the fixtures. It’s been a fantastic start to the season for girls’ football at Thornleigh, full of skill, spirit and teamwork. Well done to all involved, and we look forward to even more success as the year continues with many more fixtures to come! Boys’ Football In addition to consistently achieving excellent attendance at weekly practices, we have participated in a series of league and cup matches against both local and regional teams. Most of our teams have successfully advanced through the first rounds of the cup competitions, and we’re excited to continue with fixtures throughout the winter term. We’ll provide an update on our progress in these competitions in our Easter Newsletter, where we hope to celebrate some achievements. Rugby Congratulations to our Thornleigh Rugby Teams who have been training hard on Thursday nights. With their new and improving skills Year 7, Year 8 / 9 and Year 10 / 11 took part in tournaments at Bolton Rugby Club against schools including Westhoughton, Rivington, Turton, Canon Slade and St. Catherine’s. Even though they did not win the tournaments they showed great skills, resilience and determination during their games and should be very proud of their performances. There are more tournaments after Christmas for our students and we are always looking for new players to join the teams.
