Year 12: Futures Week One of the highlights of the term was our annual Futures Week. Students benefited from a range of informative and inspiring sessions delivered by guest speakers from universities, apprenticeship providers and a variety of professional career fields. These experiences helped students explore their future pathways, gain valuable insights into different industries and make informed decisions about their next steps. Year 12: Preparing for the Future This term marked the launch of the UCAS application process for our Year 12 students. We introduced students to the university application journey and began work on personal statements, helping them to reflect on their achievements, aspirations and experiences as they prepare for life beyond sixth form. Year 12: Retro Sports Day Our Year 12 students also enjoyed taking part in a Retro Sports Day. The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to work together, show their competitive spirit and enjoy a range of traditional sports day activities. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and teamwork on display throughout the day. End of Year Reward Trips Students have had the opportunity to celebrate a successful year through a range of reward activities. These included an exciting trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a scenic walk around Rivington and a variety of enjoyable school-based activities. These events provided a well-deserved opportunity for students to relax, socialise and celebrate their achievements. Brilliant Club Graduation We are delighted to congratulate students who have participated in The Brilliant Club programme this year. Their hard work and commitment will be recognised at the graduation ceremony on 30th June. We are incredibly proud of their dedication to academic enrichment and look forward to celebrating their success. Year 12: Biology Field Trip Our Year 12 Biology students recently visited Formby as part of their fieldwork studies. The trip provided valuable opportunities to develop practical investigation skills, collect data and deepen understanding of ecological concepts studied in the classroom. Farewell to Year 13 As we say goodbye to our Year 13 students, we would like to express how proud we are of everything they have accomplished. They have shown resilience, determination and maturity throughout their studies and have been excellent ambassadors for the Sixth Form. We thank them for the positive contribution they have made to our school community and wish them every success in their future endeavours. Year 12: Work Experience In the final week of term, our Year 12 students will undertake their work experience placements. This is an invaluable opportunity for students to develop workplace skills, explore career interests and gain first-hand experience of professional environments. We wish all our students the very best and hope they gain confidence, knowledge and inspiration from their placements. Psychology Project As part of our college attachment project in Psychology, we were given an egg baby to care for and take everywhere, to help us understand how attachments are formed. I was given twins, so I had double the responsibility! I took them to swim training this morning because they had to stay with me as part of the project, showing how they become part of my everyday routine. I will be keeping a diary of our activities throughout the week, which I will then present in class.
