20 SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2026 PE&Dance Let’s Dance 2026 Showcase This year saw the return of our annual Dance Showcase ‘Let’s Dance 2026’, celebrating the incredible talent, commitment and creativity of our dancers across the school. Over 120 students from Year 7 through to Sixth Form took part across two sold-out performances, showcasing an exciting range of work including BTEC Dance examination pieces, Core Dance performances, extra-curricular dance clubs, and choreography from our Paris Dance Trip. The showcase was a fantastic opportunity for students to perform in front of a live audience and celebrate the dedication, teamwork and passion they have developed throughout the year. The standard of performance was exceptional, and we are incredibly proud of every student who took part, whether performing on stage, supporting behind the scenes, or contributing to the success of the event. A huge congratulations to all our dancers for creating such a memorable evening and representing the school with confidence and professionalism. We are already looking forward to seeing what our dancers achieve next year! Girls’ Football Our U13 Girls’ Football Team enjoyed an incredible run in the English Schools National Competition this year. The girls booked their place in the quarter-finals with an outstanding 7–4 victory over Middlewich High School in the last 16, taking an early 3–0 lead and producing a fantastic team performance. Layla scored four goals, while Sienna added a superb hat-trick to seal the win. In the quarter-final, the team travelled to Cherwell School in Oxford and once again showed tremendous determination and quality. After a closely contested match which finished 1–1, with Layla scoring, the game went to extra time and then penalties. Following a dramatic sudden-death shootout, the girls were narrowly defeated 6–5. Although their cup journey came to an end, the team represented Thornleigh with pride and resilience throughout the competition. Reaching the national quarter-finals is a fantastic achievement and every player should be extremely proud of their efforts. Boys’ Football Following a heavy schedule throughout the winter months which we reported in our previous newsletters, our season came to a head at the end of the spring term, just before Easter. Our two most notable performances came from our Year 7 and Year 10 teams, who both made it to their respective town cup finals but unfortunately both finished runners-up in competitive games. We are looking forward to going one step further next season.
