Summer Newsletter 2022

23531 SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2022 INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS GIBRALTAR TRIP As part of our engagement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, our Sixth Form students had the unique opportunity to visit Gibraltar, speaking directly to government ministers and the people of the Rock. They learned how pollution, construction and plastics are impacting on the Island and surrounding oceans, visited the local wildlife park and nature sites and came face-to-face with the legendary Macaque Apes. Our students and staff fully enjoyed contributing to the University of Gibraltar sustainability projects, looking into sustainability in education and met with marine biologist Lewis Stagnetto from the Nautilus project who is working to improve the waters for the aquatic wildlife in the Strait of Gibraltar. The trip was fully enjoyed by all. YEAR 13 LEAVERS’ ‘DO’ The Year 13 students enjoyed a night of food and dancing, alongside the usual speeches and presentations in our own hall at the end of June (Who needs a sit-down meal, when you can have Carr’s Jiffy Van and an ice cream van on site?). It was the first opportunity for this year group to dress up and celebrate their achievements, as they missed out on the Year 11 prom because of the pandemic. This marked the leaving of the year group and was well attended by students and teachers alike. The next time this year group will get the chance to come together will be on results day. The event was an opportunity to forget about exams and results and to have a good night with friends.
