Summer Newsletter 2022
22430 SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2022 SIXTH FORM LATEST It is hard to believe that another year is ending and our Year 13 students can begin to enjoy a long hot summer after the final exam. O ver the last year, we have helped our students use Unifrog to search for the right universities and the best courses; we have guided them with personal statements to ensure that they stand out from the crowd; we have encouraged students to go to university open days, and we have tweaked UCAS applications before sending them off. All of this means that 108 of our current Year 13 students have applied for university courses all over the country. Follow us @TSC_SixthForm WHAT OUR YEAR 12 STUDENTS ARE UP TO Our Year 12 students have already registered with both Unifrog and with UCAS and over the coming months will have the same guidance to ensure a trouble-free transition onto the next step of their journey towards whatever career they choose. We in vited parents to attend an Information Advice and Guidance event presented by The University of Lancaster during ‘Futures Week’, giving them the chance to fully grasp the intricacies of the UCAS application process. Students will also be allocated time at college to begin their research and applications. Thi s will be guided by their Group Tutors, who will be there to help with the process. DUKE OF EDINBURGH Our Sixth Formers had a brilliant weekend preparing for their upcoming Duke of Edinburgh expedition. The rain almost held off for the duration of their 10k hike in the countryside! They showed resilience, excellent team work and decision-making and of course, excellent map and compass reading. YEAR 12 FUTURES WEEK We are looking forward to hosting our upcoming 2022 Year 12 ‘Futures Week’, where students will be presented with opportunities to engage in a range of activities, sessions and talks. This wil l range from paddle boarding and kayaking at the Anderton Centre, to sessions delivered by university guest speakers, to workshops on finance and life skills, to a session delivered by a local police community support officer. U niversities that are invited to speak include Leeds Beckett University, Glasgow University, Bolton University, York University and a group of students will be taking a tour around Manchester University during the week. We will finish off with our Year 12 Sports Day on the last day of term before work experience placements start!
