8410 SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2022 YEAR 12 BTEC PERFORMING ARTS SHOWCASE The Year 12 BTEC Performing Arts students performed ‘An Evening of Musical Theatre’ over two consecutive evenings as part of their assessed coursework. Th ey sang 22 songs from 20 different musicals covering a variety of styles, along with a live band to a sellout audience. The Year 12 Performing Arts group, experienced a day at the Hammond’s School of Performing Arts in Chester, where they took part in their BA (Hons) degree course in Musical Theatre. Students participated in 4 workshops – acting through song, commercial dance, movement acting and then finished with a session combining all three skills. YEAR 12 PERFORMING ARTS GROUP VISIT HAMMOND’S THEATRE CLUB This term, students in both KS3 and 4 Theatre Club have been rehearsing for the end of school celebrations. Th ey are performing a number from Hairspray choreographed by one of our Sixth Form Performing Arts Students - Charlie G. As Part of the Level 3 Btec Performing arts course, students have to devise a play based on a brief. Students have created, an adaption of the story, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ for children. They will be performing for the children at Future Champions Nursery in Horwich on the 15th of July. ‘THE THREE LITTLE PIGS!’ As part of the BTEC Performing Arts Level 1 /2, students had to perform a script in groups. The current Year 10s performed different extracts from Jim Cartwrights, ‘Road’ and ‘The Rise and Fall of Little Voice’. YEAR 10 PERFORMING ARTS
