Easter Newsletter 2022

Dear Parent / Carer, and Friends of Thornleigh Salesian College, It i s now two years since we were first impacted by the Covid pandemic. It is fair to say that for our school, our families and the wider community it has been the most challenging of times. We have all borne the brunt of ‘isolation’ – isolation from school, from our family members and from our friends and there is no doubt that this has come at a real cost in so many ways, educationally, socially and emotionally. As a school community this is the first time we have completed two consecutive terms fully since 2019 but even these have not been without disruption and restriction – nonetheless we have achieved a great deal and I hope that you will enjoy reading in this newsletter about the opportunities and experiences that our students have had this term. I am confident that as a community we are starting to recover from the challenges that we have faced. Our Year 11 and 13 students have been well prepared for their examinations and are in the final stretch now before they complete their courses. Our sports teams have experienced some great success in many areas. For those of you fortunate enough to enjoy our production of Matilda – I am sure you will agree that our Performing Arts students continue to go from strength to strength! I ha ve been particularly impressed by our student leaders across every department and every year group – they continue to work tirelessly to improve our school for themselves and others. We are looking forward to the summer term and finding more ways of re-connecting our students, and more ways of re-connecting our parents and families so that we can continue to develop our school community. May I thank you for your continued support with all that we do. I ho pe that you have a very happy and holy Easter. With every good wish. HEADTEACHER’S MESSAGE 2 SPRING NEWSLETTER 2022
