In Year 8, Mr Fairclough’s 8 Kappa are the leaders once again, with 8 Theta and 8 Zeta not too far behind. The winners of the numeracy challenge for this term will be announced on our twitter page @ThornleighMaths in the final week of term. WORLD PI DAY Monday 14th March marked the annual World Pi day where mathematicians across the globe came together to celebrate everything 3.14. Stu dents had the opportunity to celebrate in their maths lessons by attempting Pi day based tasks and quizzes, and we also celebrated Pi day by asking students to take part in a baking competition. A huge well done to Franklin in Year 7 for a cake that not only looked fantastic but tasted delicious too! Here is a picture of her incredible creation. LEARNING LEADER PROFILE Name: Vrittika Year: 13 Hi everyone, my name is Vrittika. I am a student at Thornleigh Sixth Form studying Maths, Physics, and Geography for my A-Levels. I have recently applied to become a Maths Leader and my application was successful. I wanted to become a Maths Leader not only to help other students with questions and topics they find difficult, but also to develop my skills and confidence ready to hopefully start my undergraduate in Civil Engineering this September. T his is something I am committed to and I plan on playing my role to the best of my ability. T he Maths Leaders have organised a homework help club every Tuesday at form time and lunch. Stu dents can simply pop in and receive any support or guidance for the topics they are struggling with and develop their mathematical skills. Everyone is welcome to join! Looking forward to seeing some new faces at these sessions! Numeracy Challenge winners:
