Bethany Farnworth, a Year 13 Student at Thornleigh Sixth Form has been selected to play in the Senior Schools International Table Tennis Competition in Limerick, Ireland. She will be competing against teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man.
On Saturday 30th April she played in the Nationals in Huddersfield. This was the top 16 Junior players in the country. She had two fantastic wins beating the No. 3 & 4th ranked players where she then lost in the semi-finals coming 3rd and winning a Bronze medal. She also played in the Blackpool Grand Prix where she won Band 2, runner-up in Band 1, semi-finalist in the women’s and runner-up in the U21’s. She was voted player of the weekend.
Come September she will be too old for the Juniors but she finishes in the top 10 in the country and her selection for the International is a great way for her to finish.
Beth has achieved an extremely high standard of table tennis and we want to offer our congratulations on selection and hopes for a successful International appearance.
