We made it!

Back in November Miss Brown persuaded Mr and Mrs Burrowes and Mr Fairley along with 8 Sixth Form students to take part in the Manchester 10k. This was going to be another fundraising event to raise money for the team going out to Tanzania in the summer. This seemed like a fantastic idea at the time and we were all going to embark on our training. Sixth months passed and last Sunday morning 22nd May, we all met in Manchester ready and raring to go. Despite a couple of last minute changes, with additional support from Mrs Hancock and Mrs Walsh, we prepared ourselves for the ‘Green Wave’ and in the warm lunchtime sun we warmed up with the other thousands of competitors. At 13:10 we were off, Miss Brown and Mrs Burrowes dressed as a Giraffe and a Zebra and Mr Fairley as Zazu from the Lion King. 2 kilometres into the race the sunshine didn’t last and in true Manchester style the heavens opened and the winds came but the crowds cheered us on. We all finished in style and we were very proud of our achievements, for some it was their first 10k (but now not their last!) Alex Raw and Alex Daly completed it in 49 minutes.  For others, we have decided to enjoy the atmosphere again next year but not as a 10k but in the new half marathon.
