Year 11 Celebration of Achievement Evening 2015

On Friday 26 June, we were proud to hold a Celebration of Achievement Evening for our fabulous Year 11 students at the Victoria Halls in Bolton. Our students stunned us all by turning up in dresses (and suits!) of all different colours and styles. They’ve certainly changed since they first walked through the doors of Thornleigh Salesian College in Year 7. This special evening gives our students and staff a chance to celebrate together and to thank them for all the energy that they have put into our school family over the last 5 years. We hope to welcome many of our students back again to Thornleigh Sixth Form; but for now we hope they enjoy their summer. They have certainly earned it!

History – Castle Project

Every year, part of the Year 7 scheme of learning investigates the history of castles. As part of this unit we ask our students to think practically and creatively and make a castle using the knowledge they have learnt. Each year the entries are outstanding, the thought and attention to detail shows the time and dedication they put into these projects. Castles of all shapes and sizes are carefully carried into school, which is no small task as we’re sure some of them are bigger than the students themselves! All of the castles have been displayed in the History rooms and photographed for the school website. Over the next few weeks the winners will be announced and published in the Summer Newsletter.Special praise should go to Bryony Waring in 7K who, as research for her project, went to Conway Castle in Wales and then constructed a model of the whole Conway Castle site! Fantastic work Year 7!
