Year 8 Careers and Future Pathway Event

On Tuesday 13th February, Thornleigh Salesian College held its annual Year 8 Careers and Future Pathway event.

Over 20 local and national employers, universities and apprenticeship providers were interviewed by our students in school in order for them to gain a more in depth knowledge of a variety of careers and further education pathways.
The aim of the day was to also give students an increased confidence in speaking to adults, raise aspirations and to feel more informed in taking the necessary steps towards their future career.
The day was part of a supportive process to ensure students are prepared and fully informed to enable them to make the appropriate choices to maximize their full potential.

Impartial careers advice and guidance is provided by Mrs Banner, our School Careers Adviser, which complements the careers education programme in school from Year 7 - 13.
Mrs Banner is available in school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointments can be booked via staff or student referral and there is a lunchtime drop in session in the careers room every Monday and Tuesday for advice and guidance.
All Year 11 students are offered an appointment to provide information advice and guidance and to support them in making well informed decisions about their post 16 options.
